London

In early November we made a last minute trip to London to join Tom on a business trip.  Tom and I always enjoy heading to this fun city as it makes us feel a little bit closer to home....as we can communicate in English and shop and eat at some of our favorite American places.  Finn was a trooper on the close to 3 hour flight (great training for our upcoming 10 hour trip to the states).  We arrived Thursday evening and Finn got to experience his first train ride into the city.  After getting settled, putting Finn to bed, and having an old acquaintance babysit Tom and I headed off for a date night.  We were lucky to score last minute tickets to see "The Book of Mormon" in the West End.  We wound up with third row seats to an incredible show.  If you haven't seen it...its a must!  Absolutely hysterical.....After the show we were starving for dinner so we couldn't resist when we walked by Five Guys.  Only in London is there a 15 minute long line just to enter the restaurant at 11:00pm!  The wait was worth it and we thoroughly enjoyed our taste of home before heading back to the hotel to crash.  We were up early on Friday as Tom headed off on a day of business meetings and travel.  Finn and I enjoyed our day in London.  We did a ton of walking and exploring the city and enjoyed hitting up Regent Street for some shopping and admiring all of the Christmas decorations and lights.  I took Finn in the famous Hamley's Toy Store and he was mesmerized with all of the activity and kids all around.   We made a stop at Whole Foods (another taste of home) for lunch and after an afternoon nap headed out for more sightseeing!  Finn was worn out after a long day and we happily had Tom home shortly afterwards.  Saturday was spent exploring the city as a family.  There was a lot going on to celebrate the 100 Year Anniversary of WWI so Finn was able to see the start of a parade as well as his first bagpipe band in action!  We walked through the Buckingham Palace area and Trafalgar Square and made our way towards Westminster Abbey.  We toured this incredible church.  This history of it is truly remarkable and its amazing how many famous people are buried there.  Tom LOVED learning all of the history and I LOVED seeing where Princess Kate was married.  After our sightseeing we hit up Chipotle for lunch and then took a family nap during some traditional English rain.  In the evening we were fortunate to meet up with some great friends that used to live in Warsaw.  It was so much fun to introduce Finnegan to them and to catch up! We had dinner in Chinatown and then hit the hotel bar for cocktails.  Sunday morning we were off to Heathrow to head back home.  A quick, but awesome trip!
