Sorry for the blogging absence! Due to some major computer issues and the holidays we have been absent. But, we're back with lots of updates about our holiday travels!
We were fortunate to snag an invite to the US Marine Corps Ball here in Warsaw. This event takes place every November on the birthday of the Marines to celebrate and honor those serving our country. Normally, the public is not invited...but since there are only six US Marines stationed here in Warsaw they open the event up to US Embassy employees, Polish mlitary guests and Americans. The six Marines here in Warsaw are stationed at the US Embassy and their job is to protect classified information. The actual physical security of the embassy is outsourced to Polish security...we found this interesting. The Marine ball was a fun formal evening of drinking and dancing the night away! We even got to meet the new US Ambassador to Poland. Tom's favorite part of the evening was taking vodka shots with the Marines.
