Shortly after returning from the states Tom needed to head to the Ukraine for business. So, we decide to make a trip of it and head there together. We were quite surprised at just how nice the city is. It sits along a major river and is filled with tons and tons of trees and forests. On top of all of the great nature, although it was heavily destroyed during WWII the building were rebuilt and repaired to maintain their original gorgeous architectural details. We started our trip with the standard Sullivan move...a walking tour of the city. We really love walking tours when we first arrive somewhere as they give us a nice walk and overview of the city. We happened to be in Kiev during the birthday celebration of the city so there were a ton of people downtown celebrating and partaking in concerts, street performances and more. It was very cool to check out. After a long day we used trip advisor to find some good Ukrainian food to check out. It was definitely a challenging experience getting there using our map and street signs with the Cyrillic alphabet. It made us appreciate that although the Polish language may be difficult, it at least uses the same characters as English. We found Ukrainian food to be tasty and in many ways quite similar to Polish food. After dinner we were exhausted from a day full of walking and fresh air. We headed to bed, excited for one of our most interesting experiences in Europe to date..more to come on that soon!
