A time to celebrate....

Tom and I have decided to celebrate both the Jewish and Catholic religious traditions associated with the birth of a child.  So, we were fortunate enough to hold and celebrate Finnegan's Bris ceremony during my parents visit.  We worked with the local Rabbi here in Warsaw to arrange everything.  And, since, sadly, the Jewish population of Warsaw is so small today (due to the effects of the war) the Mohel was flown in from New York City for the event.  For those who are unfamiliar, a Mohel, is a special medically trained rabbi who performs Bris ceremonies.  While the Mohel was here he performed a few ceremonies for families in Warsaw.
It was really special to celebrate this life event here in Warsaw as it seemed like a full "circle of life" event.....my paternal grandmother was born in Warsaw and here we were about 90 years later celebrating the birth of our son in Warsaw....pretty surreal!
And, next up to schedule is Finn's baptism!  We are hoping to have Tom's mom here to celebrate that event!

Finn - Weeks 1-3

Parenthood has been a whole mix of amazing, humbling, joyful and challenging all rolled into one! We feel honored and privileged to be Finn's parents and are trying our hardest to be the best parents possible to him!  Time has flown by these last few weeks....wow!

We've been incredibly grateful you have my parents visiting and helping us the past couple of weeks!  Finn is in LOVE with his Mimi and Grandpa.  And, two extra sets of hands has been truly invaluable to these new parents!  Thanks again Mimi and Grandpa for everything and such a truly special visit.

As all new parents are obliged to do....here are way too many pictures of Mr. Finnegan....your mom and dad love you more than you'll ever know Finnegan Oliver!  xoxo

Cheers to making it through our hospital stay....only proper to celebrate with Polish beer! Na Zdrowie!

Tom and the Farmers...

Tom has been recently working with the US Embassy and the American Chamber of Commerce in Poland on a project to share farming techniques, methods and transportation with a group of farmers from the US and a group from Poland.  It may come as a surprise to some of you, but Poland has very advanced farming techniques and, in fact, they are the number one exporter of apples in all of Europe!  After months of planning, the event finally took place last week.  Tom did a great job and even got to serve as moderator of the round table discussions and panel.  Not surprisingly, Tom was in the midst of all of the action...as you can see in the photos below!

Getting ready for baby....

We are in the final stretch here in Warsaw waiting for our little guy to make his grand debut into the world!  We are anxious and excited to meet him.  And, we will let everyone on the blog know once he decides to arrive.  Here are a few photos from the past months documenting the pregnancy.  We've been busy getting ourselves and the apartment ready for our about-to-be family of four!

This was part of my Halloween costume announcing the pregnancy to Warsaw friends!  I dressed as a cat and then had this "baby" cat on my belly!

30 weeks and growing....

Little Guy at 31 weeks...

Thanks Aunt Helen for the awesome chocolate cigars that you made - we can't wait to share them with friends when our little guy arrives!

Getting the house in order...yes, we actually moved my old college desk to Tom's office this way!

Whew....we made it to the office with the desk in one piece!
