Date Night!
We decided to explore parts of Warsaw that we haven't yet in our time here. Our first stop was at the Jewish Cemetery. It's absolutely beautiful and a super cool mix of old and new. It's also really neat in that nature has continued to evolve and develop in the space so it's a very peaceful park like setting with all of the tall trees. It was amazing to see many pre-war graves still standing and to imagine what life was like at this time. Prior to the war, Poland was home to 1/3 of the world's Jewish population! Our next stop was to head to the top of the Palace of Culture. This is the enormous building that we can see from our apartment balcony. It serves a variety of purposes including housing offices, a pool, movie theater, performance theater and more. We chose to go up to the observation deck at the top and look out on the views of Warsaw from all four sides. It was a great vantage point and somehow we timed it just right to enjoy the sunset from the top!
